Tens of thousands of seniors in Israel accept the deterioration of their vision, sometimes to the point of blindness, as fate.
They are unaware that in many cases, their vision and quality of life can be saved and significantly improved, thanks to today's sophisticated and advanced medicine.
These people are not mobile in most cases and do not have a family that can take care of them and bring them for critical examinations!

The Lirot association brings the clinic to the immediate environment of the seniors: to nursing homes, day centers or to their private homes, where we conduct concentrated examination days, throughout the country.
The examination results are transmitted using modern and sophisticated technology to a specialist doctor, who diagnoses the problem and saves seniors from unnecessary blindness, simply like that.
So far, approximately 20,000 seniors have been examined as part of the project, with 20% of them having medical findings that require treatment to save their vision.

The 2022 community testing activity is supported by the Grace Bear Endowment Fund, New York, USA.

The goal we have set for ourselves is to reach an additional 1,000 elderly people in the community in the coming year and to test their vision, also using a photo device, which replaces the doctor in the field and sends the photo to the hospital doctor for interpretation.
This innovative method of telemedicine will allow us to save the vision of many more elderly people than before.

The unique device photographs all components of the eye: retina, cataract, glaucoma, and more, with the unique advantage that there is no need to dilate the pupils and cause discomfort.
The photograph is transmitted directly to a doctor's computer in his clinic for interpretation and diagnosis.
